2014 was the first year of the historical event. Visitors were invited to the area in front of the Governor’s Palace with lit candles and torches and could join a parade through the centre of the city together with the Emperor Napoleon and soldiers in period uniforms. They could also taste French specialities. The hosts presented interesting details from the 1805 stay of French soldiers in Brno and visitors were invited to an evening tour of the exhibition “Art from the Gothic to the 19th Century” in the Governor’s Palace. A large-screen video programme on the 1805 campaign, produced specifically for the event, was screened on the front of the palace during the evening. Prayers were said in St. Thomas Church for victims of wars and the festive character of the evening was magnified by a historical ball in the Baroque hall of the Governor’s Palace. Around 2,500 people took part in the event.
