In 2015 what was already the second annual historical Napoleon in Brno event took place. The square in front of the Governor’s Palace was illuminated with candles and together the visitors enjoyed the showing of a video about the 1805 campaign projected on the façade of the Governor’s Palace. Visitors then had the chance to set off on a parade through the centre of Brno with the Emperor Napoleon and soldiers in period uniforms. At Freedom square there was a symbolic handing over of the keys to the city of Brno, although Napoleon respectfully returned them to Brno’s burghers. In the presence of the Emperor Napoleon prayers were held for the victims of the war in the church of St. Thomas, accompanied by the organ and the singing of Jana Kolčářová. Thanks to the interesting commentary visitors were able to learn more about the uniforms and arms of the soldiers, as well as the period costumes of the city’s inhabitants. In the Governor’s Palace an evening exhibition was opened and a portrait of the Emperor Francis II in his coronation robes was displayed for visitors to view. Throughout the evening visitors had the chance to be transported to the world of the music and beautiful dresses at the imperial ball in the Baroque Hall. The finale of the prepared programme culminated in the projection mapping, which was specially prepared on the building of the Governor’s Palace.
In 2015 some 5 000 people took part in the event – and that was thanks to you double the number in 2014.
